Favorite Netflix Shows That I Watched in 2017

I’m on a roll here. After writing the review for Manhunt: Unabomber, I suddenly realised I haven’t talked about my favourite TV shows of 2017. What? There are so many I want to talk about. Let’s get started!

I watched all of these on Netflix so these are basically my favorite netflix shows of 2017. I am so happy I got a netflix subscription last year. Those torrents and illegal download never got me impressed.

1. Heartland

It’s a Canadian television show about a girl who has a special way with horses and she fixes troubled horses. The show starts with the girl rescuing the horse and losing her mother during the process. And then, the picturesque heartland ranch woos you.

The show is so good that I am on the tenth season and I don’t know what I’ll do once I finish that. The 11th season is currently on-air on television but I don’t think it will be live anytime soon on Netflix.

I love the country side vibe and how it’s such a beautiful family show. It has so many characters with traits you’ll fall in love with. There’s Lou who is the perfect girl boss, there’s Amy who is a true animal lover, there’s Jack who is the coolest and the wisest grandfather you’ll ever meet, there’s the too talkative Mallory who is the best neighbour you could have, there’s the boy in the loft who needs to figure things out and then there’s Tim – whom you will love as you keep watching the show. There are many more characters and you’ll fall in love with each of them. It’s an awesome show to stick to for a long time.

2. Manhunt: Unabomber

Need something you can wrap up quickly? How about this mini series about this criminal who used to send bombs via post? It’s pretty scary. No?

The show, in my favorite netflix show 2017 list, is about how he gets caught and it’s absolutely amazing. You can easily binge watch it. Check out my full review for details on this.

3. Orange is the New Black

Another netflix show I was obsessed with was Orange is the New Black. It’s a woman oriented show about Piper Chapman who has to go to jail. It’s about her life in the jail and trust me, there are so many characters in this show that will make you laugh, that will make you cry, that will make you feel empathy, pity, anger and what not. You’ll be glued to this show. I think I was on season 3 when I decided to watch something else. But I’ll get back to it.

4. Dexter

It’s such an old show but I truly got obsessed with it just this year. I have watched six seasons so far. It’s about this forensic blood spatter analyst who is a monster – he kills people. But he has a code.

The show is again very addicting. You love the way Dexter tells you his story and you come to fall in love with him. Honestly, I was too heartbroken after a character in this show died and that’s why I didn’t continue it else there’s no way you can stop watching this!

5. How To Get Away With Murder

You got a hint about the kind of TV shows I like from my 2016 favourite TV shows. I love shows that involve lawyers. How to get away with murder features criminal lawyer Annalise Keating and her students and it’s their story about how they get away with murder in real life.

The show is again something that you’ll binge watch. I am eagerly waiting for the next season to go live on Netflix.

6. Blacklist

Another trend that shows in my list of favourite netflix shows of 2017 is my affinity towards shows that involve government agencies working on catching criminals or in this case, working with a criminal to catch criminals.

First season of this show is just awesome and it does go downhill after that. So, I have watched only two seasons but first season is something you cannot miss.

7. Stranger Things Season 2

Of course, how could I forget this? The first season featured in my favourite TV shows of 2016 post as well.

Honestly, I found this season much better as the last season was total chaos(wasn’t it?). Who understood what that thing was? In this season, I still got the point. I loved Eleven and I love the whole show. And while I was about to watch it, somebody made a reference about how it’s inspired from book IT by Stephen King. So, that got me even more interested.

8. Scream Season 1

There are two seasons and I would definitely recommend to just watch season one and call it quits. I don’t really want to make a reference to scream movie series but if you’re familiar with it, you don’t need to know what the show is about. Skip next paragraph.

The show is about this weird murderer who is killing people in the life of this girl and blackmailing her. It’s really fun to watch.

9. Girlboss

Last but not the least, I loved this show based on the real life story of the founder of NastyGal – Sophia. It’s such a lovely show which is a must-watch for women. If you love strong and inspiring women characters, this show, in my list of favorite netflix shows 2017, is for you.

There you go! Those are my favorite netflix shows of 2017. I also watched a couple of more shows – Riverdale, Shadowhunters, Fuller House, and The Returned (didn’t complete any of these) and I hope to give them another chance before finally deciding whether I want to continue these or not.
