Blog Traffic equals to the number of unique visitors you have on your blog each day. It might also include the number of pageviews you get each day.
Now, that’s a very formal definition of Blog Traffic. What blog traffic is to bloggers in real life is what oxygen is to living beings. You simply can’t live without it. Whether you’re a professional blogger or just a person who owns a blog as a hobby, Blog Traffic is certainly going to be the most important in your list.
If you ask me the first thing I do on my laptop, that is certainly checking the amount of visitors I got the previous day. In fact, I spend at least half an hour each day just looking at the blog traffic of my two blogs. Do I sound to be crazy? Well, then I can bet that there are thousands of bloggers like me out there in the blogosphere.
The importance of blog traffic lies in the fact that the very purpose of blogging is to get large number of people to read the stuff you post. Moreover, if you are looking for earning huge amount of money from your blog, blog traffic is the first thing you need to take care about.
Now, you would be thinking that if I consider this to be so important and unavoidable, then why am I writing this post titled as ‘should you really care about the blog traffic?’ Oh no, I know what you’re going to do next. You’re just going to click on some other post on this blog that interests you or simply navigate away from this blog.
But wait! I know you would be thinking that the answer to the question I posed in the beginning of this post would be affirmative but my friend that is certainly not the case.
Yes, blog traffic is important. It’s really very important. And this has been accepted by each of the bloggers but one thing which each one of them ignored is that – blog traffic is not more important than your blog.
How many efforts do you make to get visitors on your blog? I know the number would be quite large. You would have been promoting your blog on social networking sites, you are probably using dozens of social bookmarking sites, social commenting, ping sites, paid advertising and other methods (which I am still not aware about) to get good amount of blog traffic. Aren’t you?
But is it really working? If yes, then is it really working as expected by you considering the amount of efforts you’re putting in? I don’t need you to answer now because we all know that the answer is ‘NO’.
Why is that so? Why we’re not able to achieve as we had expected when we began? Many of the bloggers talking about this issue would say that you or we were simply over expecting. Did we? Not at all. We have had expected exactly the right amount and the reason why we’re not getting that is we are paying more attention to our blog traffic than our very blog. Yes I am saying it again.
What you need is to love your blog, not the traffic stats. You need to make sure you have the good design which has easy navigation, attractive posts and a very high quality content and a sound personal touch. Personal touch is really necessary. You’re still reading this blog post, you’re probably doing that because this post is written by a girl who has a 7 year experience (not so good one) in the field of blogging. The very fact makes me eligible to share what things don’t really work when it comes to having a successful blog. And this is the very fact you’re reading this post till now, else you would have just navigated away for you have many more options.
What you need is to build trust among the few readers you have and they would magically turn into a huge number. Try it! What you need to do is to add a personal touch and raise the bar of quality content for your blog and just wait and watch!
You will realize how your blog traffic would increase manifolds without much effort. I tried it and that’s why I am sharing this secret with you and I want you to do the same. Try this and share your experience.
Hey Manpreen,
Let’s be frank with you, but don’t get hurt. This post seems great, but many writer’s block. Some tips for improvement.
1. Device paragraph in short with two to three lines.
2. Use H2, H3, H4 for head to craft content well.
3. Use some list style in the post.
4. Use call to action
I hope this tip will help to create more user engagement and comments.
Hello Nikhil,
first of all thanks a lot for coming up with suggestions. I really appreciate it. Not many bloggers are actually ready to help and I do try to structure my posts this way.
But this one was an exception because I wanted it to be a discussion kind of post.. you know where I could let person think himself, not provide him some instructions and ask him to do that.
Anyways, thanks for paying my blog a visit and it is great to connect with you. Your blog is really nice. Interesting and informative posts.. awesome! 🙂
I believe content is everything. Quality content automatically leads to increase in traffic. Rest everything is secondary.
You are right Raunak. this means I have met one more blogger who shares the same views as I do. 🙂
You actually make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be really something that I feel I would by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next publish, Ill try to get the cling of it! eaabdbdkcaek
Hello John, Maybe you find this a bit complex for I have written this post from perspective of discussion. there is not one point which I have discussed over here.. I have considered many view points which definitely make this complex.
But don’t worry.. yours is a great advice and I will keep this in mind while writing my next post. 🙂
