While you might want to think that as the summers are gone, you are now safe from the scorching heat and radiation but it’s only the heat that is gone, radiation seeps in during the winters too that also combined with dryness in the air. The cold temperature and lack of moisture in the air gives you dry scalp and make you look dull. So, here are some tips for skin care in winter I would like to share with you all to keep it glowing as well as healthy.

Skin Care Tips for Winter

skin care in winter1. Retain your oils

However good it feels to take a hot shower in winters, but I would suggest you to abstain from it as it washes off natural oils from your skin as easily as hot water washes off grease from the dishes.

2. Moisturise yourself

Apply body lotion generously and do keep it within easy reach. Use lip balm, if you are anything like me, you would know how great lip balm can be on those dry winter days.

You can apply it on your cracked heels to heal them. Arms and legs have fewer oil glands, so they tend to be drier than other parts, especially in the winter.

Nourish yourself by adding two cups of whole milk to warm (not hot) water. Soak for about 15 minutes, pat dry your skin, and apply a rich body cream to boost the benefits.

You can use honey too for skin care in winter. Honey draws free water from the inner tissues to the surface layer of the skin. It soothes dry, sensitive and irritated areas.

3. Exfoliate yourself

Exfoliate regularly to get rid of the dead cells of the skin. Exfoliate your lips too. Try coating your dry feet and hands in full-fat yogurt. The lactic acid in yogurt acts as a natural exfoliant to gently remove dead skin while the fats restore moisture.

You can also mix a teaspoon of raw honey into the yogurt before applying on your skin. You must leave this mask on for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off.

4. Keep yourself hydrated

Majority of us don’t realize it when we are dehydrated; until it is too late. The easiest way to know that is to take a look at your pee. If it’s not pale yellow color, then you are not drinking enough water. Drink water to boost up your regimen for skin care in winter.

5. Use sunscreen

In winters, people like going out in the sun and giving their skin a warm feeling, but you have to wear sunscreen daily to save your skin from damage. For skincare in winters, I would suggest you keep yourself covered.

6. Hair care

Winter season brings a lot of hair troubles like the dry and itchy scalp, dandruff and frizz that are quite capable of making those bad hair days more frequent.

Mix coconut oil or Almond oil with aloe Vera gel and apply it thoroughly on your scalp. Cover it with a shower cap and wash your hair off after 30 minutes using a mild herbal shampoo.

7. Eat healthy diet

You need to focus on staying healthy throughout the cold and flu season. Eating a healthy and balanced diet is crucial for skin care in winter. Fruits and food products high in Vitamin C like oranges, kiwis, gooseberries, and lemons are abundant in the winter months.

It acts as a powerful antioxidant that boosts the immune system brighten the skin, and even reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It plays a crucial role in collagen synthesis – helping to maintain the plumpness and bounce in our skin. Flaxseed oil, walnuts, fish, soybeans and spinach are few examples of Omega 3 fatty acids which are beneficial to combat winter blues.
